Archers in the Colorado forest

Come walk with us into the forest.

The Warrior Poet Archery Club is a community built around traditional archery, fellowship, and meaningful conversation. It began in 2022 from my desire to find healthier outlets for people in a world that felt increasingly divided and disconnected. What started as a simple effort to gather in the forest gradually became something deeper — a space for reflection, friendship, personal growth, and connection to the natural world.

We believe modern life often leaves people disconnected — from nature, from community, and sometimes from themselves. Our gatherings are an attempt to push gently against that current. We spend time outdoors, practice a skill that requires focus and presence, and create room for honest conversation around philosophy, psychology, literature, mythology, and the challenges of everyday life.

At its core, the club is about cultivating presence —
a kind of "meditation in motion."

Archery has a unique way of grounding people. It demands attention, patience, discipline, and surrender all at once. The forest slows things down. Phones disappear into pockets. Conversations become more thoughtful. Friendships form naturally around targets, trails, and shared experiences.

After shooting a round together, we gather for what we jokingly call "throwing a woodsie" — an open conversation where members share ideas, stories, poetry, insights, or reflections that have been meaningful in their lives. Sometimes the conversation is philosophical. Sometimes practical. Sometimes deeply personal. The goal is not ideology or debate, but honest dialogue and fellowship.

You do not need experience in archery to join us.

Beginners are welcome, and loaner bows are usually available with advance notice. If you are new to shooting, we recommend arriving early so we can help with basic technique and safety instruction.

Winter conditions

Please note that the road leading to the range is unpaved and can become difficult during winter conditions. Vehicles without 4WD may struggle on the final incline after heavy snowfall. If needed, coordinate a ride or park lower along the access road.

A final note

This is not a commercial event or a performance-driven club. It is a group of people trying to build something increasingly rare in modern life: real community.

A place to slow down. A place to think deeply. A place to reconnect with nature and with one another.
